While old-fashioned thumbprint cookies typically hold jam and jellies, these cookies feature a festive candied cherry in the center. The cookies are fun for children to make and are a festive addition to your Christmas cookie tray. Christmas Cookie Baking Tip : Chop Nuts Well Before Rolling Cookies
Chop the nuts very finely to ensure that they adhere to the Cherry Thumbprint Christmas Cookies (or other cookies with nuts layered on surfaces.) This way, cookie surfaces will be thoroughly coated before you press your thumbprint in the center. You can use a sharp knife to chop nuts finely or pulse them in a food processor to pulverize them.
